Auction item procurement has a goal to acquire auction items to raise money for an event. If you have attended functions I am sure you have noticed the silent auction adorned with gift cards and baskets. However, obtaining higher auction bids may be challenging with these ideas. Step out of the box and try to come up with experiences rather than ‘stuff’ for a chance to earn higher bids.
WISH LIST PARTY
Gather your auction team together including those on your board and company directors. Enjoy food and drinks while discussing ideas for the event. Have everyone go around the room and ask if money was not an issue, what they would like to have at the event. What is their wish list?
Unusual items can do very well in bidding. They are fun and unique. Yes, a trip to the Bahamas is wonderful, but how about renting out a local parking spot for the year or even a store closing down for a few hours for a personal shopping spree. Reach out to the city and local event planners to work together on a unique auction item.
Reach out to your community of firefighters, police officers and city council. You may be able to learn about unique adventures they can offer your organization. Possibly a ride in a fire truck or behind the scenes at a local business. You never know unless you try.
